SUMMER CAMP 2010 GUIDE

A few notes before you read on and discover the fabulous summer we have in store for you:

  • ACT is moving again! At the end of May, ACT will have a new home. We are very sad to be leaving Hyde Park United Methodist Church but we are also very excited to be at our new summer camp location, THE ROSEDALE SCHOOL! The Rosedale School is located on the corner of 49th and Burnet. It’s a stone’s throw away from HPUMC and we are very excited to be sharing the space with a very special school. We will be in our new location for all but the very last week of Summer Camp 2010. We are still working on the location for the very last week of camp, we apologize for the inconvience and promise it wont be too far away.

All Summer Camps will be held on the campus of THE ROSEDALE SCHOOL.

In the summer, ACT camps explore many aspects of theatre, each inspired by a weekly theme. Campers embark on a creative journey into the realm of theatre using each theme to spark the imagination. The campers not only create the script, but they help choose costumes, design the set and block all the action. Every session is very hand-ons, in which campers are able to really be involved in all aspects of theater arts. Camps focus on teaching the creative process through games, movement, storyboarding script ideas, art projects, music and more. ACT nurtures camper’s individual talents as they collaborate in a group setting with students of a similar age. Our camps are not just about acting, but an all-around creative experience. The campers are always engaged, and though there is down-time, there is never a dull moment!

At ACT, we strive to teach valuable life skills that can be used in all areas of life, not just theatre.

Each weekly camp culminates with a performance, leaving the students with a final work of art to share with family and friends, and great memories that will last a lifetime.
